Ban Foxhound Training Preserves

By now most of you know that we won a major victory in keeping the Fox Preserves open. The senators supporting our position were not confident that they had the votes to kill SB 202 outright, so as a compromise they carried the bill over to the 2013 session and asked DGIF staff to consider whether there was need for legislative or administrative change to the regs governing fox preserves. This, and SB202 sponsor’s assertion that he will “be back next year” means the issue will certainly re-emerge in the 2013 General Assembly. Steps are already being considered by Preserve owners, hunters, and sportsmen to insure that they are better prepared on the financial and other fronts to fight HSUS in 2013.
