Member:
Greetings! As the new Virginia Trappers Association, District 8 Director, I
wanted to introduce myself to you. My name is Blanche Conley, I am a resident of
Caroline County, Virginia and I've been a
trapper for just a few years (three, to be exact). Some of you may already know
me, some of you may not. I've received the position from the former director,
Art Foltz, and hope that I can continue his wonderful tradition of having fun,
informative and well-organized
meetings and also to be a good representative of District 8 for the
Virginia Trappers Association (VTA).
During my tenure as District 8 Director, I'd like to incorporate some new ideas
and meeting formats. Some might include: a "movie night" where we would show a
trapping video from some of the popular trappers across the U.S., new product
demonstrations with samples, presentations from representatives of other
organizations (i.e. Game & Inland Fisheries, other District Directors,
veterinarians, etc...), among other things. I am also open to any ideas from you
as members of District 8 on what you would like to see at our meetings, so
please feel free to
email/call/mail/fax/carrier pigeon your input to me and I will do what I can to
make it happen.
In addition to activities for the active members, I'd like to also try to put
together some events for the families. Most of our meetings involve the members,
as it should, but if there were some side
arrangements going on to engage your wives, daughters, sons, parents, etc., we
may be able to spark their curiosity if they've never been to a meeting before,
and maybe they would like to learn more about trapping. Perhaps we can do a
"clothing exchange", a bake-off dessert contest,
book swaps, etc., to get them out and about.
In conclusion, with the new trapping season now underway, I wanted to wish you
all the best of luck with your trapping endeavors and hope for a productive
year. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, March 4,
2012, 2:00 p.m. The location hasn't been chosen yet, but we'll have a
place
secured by the end of January, and I will send out invitations with all the
information, so please save the date. If you have any questions, comments or
information you'd like to pass on, please feel free to contact me. My
