August 2008

Howdy fellow trappers, Not a whole lot to report on right now, but we are getting ready for the up coming season. I been getting traps tweaked, snares dipped, and keeping a close eye out for the critters. A lot of things have happened in the last week. My daughter was born, and my son started school, and the wife is recovering from a c-section. I been busy.

Dan Settles handled the Va Outdoor Sportsman's Classic show in Salem this weekend. From what I heard it was slow, but I think it was successful. Dan had some help over the weekend, so a big thanks to all who participated. I went down for a couple hours on Sunday, and managed to get a good picture of Dan working vigorously to promote the sport of trapping, and wildlife conservation. He was demonstrating proper fur handling to 2 Hooters girls. If you would like to see the picture, let me know.

That was the 3rd show that D-3 has done this year. One in Roanoke, one in Bedford, and one in Salem. It seems that these shows will be a regular thing in this area, so if anybody has any suggestions, or would like to help, by all means let Dan or I know. Its allot of fun, and we have a great time doing it. Its amazing to see the expressions of people when we demo a set, and explain how we do things. We are also gearing up for the Girl Scout Program in November. I will be going out to look at the site next week. I think the instructors will be able to camp there, so if anyone is interested let me know.

Until Next Time,
